Barford Remembers 1914-18, 1939-1945...... Successful Book Launch

On Remembrance Sunday, 8th November 2015, Barford village hall was full of people chatting about the impact of the first and second world wars on their families.   The occasion was the launch of a new book, Barford Remembers, 1914-1918, 1939-1945.  This book, published by the Barford Heritage Group, is a tribute to the men who died, those men who returned and the families who lived in the village during the years of both world wars.

Reminiscences, local newspaper articles from war-time, including a letter found in a 1915 edition of the Stratford Herald from a soldier at the front, many photographs and archival research were used to complete this book.  Barford residents and quite a few from further afield turned out to see the end product and enjoy an exhibition.

Over one hundred people purchased a copy of the book and reviews to date are very complementary. This project was completed thanks to funding from Warwick Community Forum and the hard work of group members; Wendy Barlow, Carole Whiteley, Ann McDermott, Hilary Maynard, Doug Warne, Elizabeth Harrison-Hall, Maggie Hayward and  Kirsty Healey.

This book is now on sale at Barford Village Shop and Warwick Books.
