He was killed in action at Moisel on Thursday 21st March 1918, aged 21.

Francis was the son of Elizabeth and Henry Talbot, a coachman at Barford House.

He was a market gardener and enlisted as a reservist to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in December 1915, he was mobilised in May 1916, then transferred to the Devon Regiment in March 1917. He was posted to France as part of the British Expeditionary Force.

On 26th January 1918 he was discharged to a base hospital with injuries but rejoined his unit on 29th January and was back in the field 2 days later.

Decorations received, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

He is commemorated on the Pozierres Memorial, Somme, France.
