He was killed in action during the Flanders Offensive on the 16th April 1918, aged 26.

Frederick, a gardener, was son of Ada Pilkington (formerly Farmer). He was wounded in September 1916 and sent home to England, he recovered and was sent back to France in February 1917.In 1901 he was living with his grandmother, Deborah Farmer at 4 High Street, Barford. In 1891 his mother was living in Warwick with her mother and father, Frederick, who was a coachman.

Decorations received, Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Comines Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.
