He was killed in action on Thursday 21st March 1918 aged 25.
Albert was born in Barford, the son of Sarah and Alfred Winston, a butcher.
After school he became a painter and decorator. He married Florence Robinson and lived in Yew tree Cottage, Wellesbourne Rd. Barford. They had a daughter Dora Agnes. His wife, Florence, was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence. Later, she remarried to a Mr. Gardiner.
He enlisted in August 1916 as a machine gunner in the Worcester Regt. And served in France and Flanders.
Decorations received, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
He is commemorated on the Pozierres Memorial.
