He was killed in action on the 4th June 1917, aged 31.
Harry was a gardener at Barford Hill House. He was the son of John, an agricultural labourer, and Agnes Woodward who lived in Dorsington, Gloucestershire. He had younger brothers, Wellesford and Frank and sisters, Maisie and Eva Blanche.When he enlisted he was living at Bridge Street, Barford with his wife, Ellen. His fellow gardener, Alfred Andrews had enlisted with him.

He is buried in the Hermies Hill British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
